In the class that day, we taught the kids the food vocabulary, the phrase-" j'ai faim" and clothing name. I presonally taught the kids the name of some foods and some fruits in french and after that my fellow teachers and I taught the kids the name of some clothes in french. I have to say that the kids were very distracted this time. We really had hard time to keep them focusing on what we were doing. We understood their behavior because they are just kids and sometimes they do not want to do anything. but to bring back their attention on what we were doing we organized a fashion show where we taught the kids the name of the clothes they were wearing and after that we made them tell to each other the name of what they wore. We also played : simon dit" meaning "Simon says" and the kids touched what we wanted them to touch. I think even though the kids were distracted, the class went well. I just think that more activities are good for the kids. bonne journee

It must be difficult to teach a group of children that is so distracted. I think this is mostly due to their age group and is very typical behavior. I think you guys are doing a great job of trying to hold their attention by including games like "simon dit" and the fashion show which our group also did today. Maybe there is some sort of a reward system your group could come up with, such as passing out candy or stickers to the children if they answer a question correctly or even attempt to answer. This might give them an incentive to pay attention and try harder.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the class went well even though the kids were distracted. I like what Hillary said about a reward system. Maybe we can come up with a review game for next week that rewards correct answers with a reward.
ReplyDeleteif the kids enjoyed the fashion shoew that mean they can actually learn they just need to be focuss lest use the ideas of reward it will probably work with those kids
