Hobbies/activities

Day3- 02-22-10
on monday, we taught the kids how to count, especially from one to ten and how to read the time, both in french. we also thaught them the different name of the different seasons such as le printemps, l'ete, l'hiver ect. i specially thaught them about the different sport that they like. football, tennis. volley ball. and also how to say`` i like to play football" meaning `` j'aime jouer au football." compare to the last teaching, they kids was very distracted and they seemed also tired. and thier lack of focus affected me also because i did really not what to do when they acted like that. it seemed like when we solve one issue another one just shows up. i am saying that because divided the kids in three groups, and we used the time taker while teaching so that every fifteen minutes, we rotated the kids to the three different set of table.that means we almost covered all the topics we were supposed to teach. the big issue was the distraction of the children. i think that to make the children pay more attention we should teach them a song or bring back some game activties such as twister.
a la prochaine

colors and shapes

last Monday was the second day of teaching french to children. i felt less pressure partly because i met the children already. once in the classroom, we reviewed the french alphabet and then separated the kids in three groups for rotation. i taught to my group colors as a review and then we learned the different shape in french such as le traingle, le rectangle etc... we played a bingo game based on colors and shapes. the first group of kids that i had foused all thier attention of what i was saying mostly because they knew how to read already and teaching them was very easy. the second group was mostly distracted maybe because they were young than the first one and they did not know how to read. and it was difficult with them to play the bingo game. we had the same problem this time again, the time. i didn't have the time to teach the third group because our time was up. i think that we need chronometer to remind us that the time is up and that we need to change the group of children. i really liked teaching on Monday because at the end i felt like i did something good.

Title: February, 1, 2010

On Monday February 1, we have taught on
1- The French alphabet, including pronunciation, illustration and song.
2- Presentation on how to introduce yourself ( bonjour, je m’appelle)
3- The different colors in French such as red, blue, green, yellow…
4- We played bingo as activity with different colors
I personally took a group of children and I taught them how to read the French alphabet. I also taught how some French colors read and together we played the bingo activity based on colors. All the kids were fine, they shared the desire to learn French and they really paid attention of what we were teaching. During the teaching, I was frustrated because since I came in the US it was my first time to be around kids. I think that since I saw all the kids, the next time will be easy. the thing we really need to concentrate on it is how to manage the one hour teaching because it went too fast the last time that we have not done all the thing that we scheduled.
Have a good weekend
